No Such Thing As Scraps

If you are like me you have a hard time letting go of all the cutoffs from wood projects. The small itty bitty bits sure, but the corners left from cutting rounds, the empty spaces that just might fit a letter or shape for another project… and then the pile grows.

As a scroll saw project enthusiast you tend to find a few uses for those odd corners but never quite enough to keep up with the ever mounting wood pile. It haunts you. You tell yourself its justified, I spent to much money to just toss those possible workable pieces I’ll find a way!!!

I hear ya! And I may have a little simple solution for you. Especially if your a wood sign maker.

Enter the sign stand.

It is the perfect not to long not to wide not to complicated solution to those funny left over bits of wood. Now I primarily use 1/2” birch sheets for my backers and I found its a great thickness. I wouldn’t recommend thinner as it feels a bit to flimsy. And thicker may be just a bit to chunky.

So are you ready to use up some scraps? If so simply download the template below, print it, trace it onto your wood, scroll it out, sand it, apply a finish if you choose and add the hinge! Done, easy, next project!

Oh and I should add this is ideal for signs/decor items up to 15” high.
